Heat Management
The heat generated by the losses in semiconductors, fuses or other power products needs to be removed in order not to damage the component itself .
One way of removing the heat is by mounting the component on to the surface of a heat sink. The heat sink will then dissipate the heat into the air by way of fins or into a fluid (typically water) by way of channels in the heat sink.
Heat sinks are most often made from copper or aluminium Copper is the best conductor but aluminium being the lowest on price, weight and close on conducting ability makes it the most widely used material.
However in some water cooled applications, heat sinks made from other materials like ceramics are used, reason being that they cannot rust and are electrically insulating.
In addition to the heat sink you need thermal paste or foils, clips etc.
We offer you a complete product range to take care of you heat problems. Please have a look to the following page for further information.
